A Little Bit Retro

By | Wedding Inspiration | One Comment

We absolutely LOVE the retro trend right now. Inspiration comes from everywhere…the 20’s, 40’s, 70’s…really any decade besides the one we are currently living in! And while vintage records, and disco balls might not be what you envision for the most elegant and romantic day of your life, we have come across some of the most luxurious, feminine, and down right gorgeous retro touches that have brought wedding decor from boring to bright!

Pick a Shade – Start by finding a shade you like from a retro color palette (Hello Citron, we love you!!). It doesn’t have to be just one, but make sure it goes with the rest of the colors you are using in your wedding decor. Screen Shot 2014-02-26 at 8.57.13 PM

Decide where it fits – Do you want a retro pop in your bouquet, reception centerpieces, or maybe shoes? The possibilities of where you can feature these retro colors and ideas are endless. Screen Shot 2014-02-26 at 9.08.54 PM

Consider Retro Furniture – Oftentimes we are so focused on the tiny details that we forget about the impact an amazing piece of furniture can make. It’s a great place to incorporate a vintage piece or even the color you are loving!Screen Shot 2014-02-26 at 9.13.44 PMScreen Shot 2014-02-26 at 9.16.38 PM

2014 Wedding Trends

By | Brides, Hamilton Oaks Winery, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Planning, Wedding Reception Ideas, Wedding Venue | No Comments

Wow! Just like that 2014 is upon us and we are gearing up for wedding season! We are loving the trends we are already seeing…from “Gatsby” themed events, to those beautiful mint bridesmaids dresses we can’t wait to see all that 2014 has to offer the wedding world! Here’s what we think some of the most popular trends will be in the year to come…

Art Deco

As much as we would love to think that the classic novel played the biggest role in this 1920’s craze, we think Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in the 2013 rendition of “The Great Gatsby” is a huge reason why we are seeing more and more requests for grand chandeliers, flapper inspired gowns, and bold hair and makeup. Luckily, one of our gorgeous private estates serves up the perfect canvas for any wedding with a 1920’s twist.

Radiant Orchid

Pantone just announced the 2014 color of the year as Radiant Orchid, a gorgeous blend of pink and purple. We feel like we have seen this color before and are not surprised that we will be seeing again on brides color palettes for their 2014 weddings! Our favorite Radiant Orchid touch? Dressing up one of our ballrooms with accent lighting!

We are so happy to predict these gorgeous flowers as being the one to look for adorning bridal bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony alters. These gorgeous blooms come in a variety of colors. (our favorite is jewel toned!) and can liven up any setting.

Mint Accents

Mint is everywhere these days! And we see a big trend with mint wedding accents, especially bridesmaids dresses. This perfectly neutral color keeps a wedding from being too feminine, yet is still delicate and romantic enough for such a special event. With many tones and shades we expect to see this color in so many different themes from rustic to glamourous.

Holiday Photo How To’s

By | Styled Shoots, Wedding Inspiration | No Comments

If you are newly married, you are probably thinking about doing your first Holiday Card as husband and wife. Now is the time to start thinking about whether you want your card to be funny, romantic, or filled with holiday spirit. Our easy to follow tips will have your holiday card adorning family and friends displays in no time.

1. Choose a Theme. Our favorite holiday cards have a little bit of everything…holiday cheer, romance, and a good laugh. Don’t forget to coordinate your outfits to fit your theme. Matching, but not too matchy match usually looks best!

2. Find a photographer. As you know from planning a wedding, photography can be quite pricey. Luckily, most photographers offer “mini shoots” this time of year. It’s a much more affordable way to capture the moment professionally than a full blow photo shoot. Tight on cash? Ask a friend or family member with a good eye if they mind shooting your photo, just make sure to use a good camera.

3. Pick a location. A lot of times the best shots can be taken right in your back yard. Find a snowy area in a forest, a pretty stream, or an old barn and you have yourself the perfect photo location. tip: ask your photographer for ideas. They might have some cool spots that you would never have thought about.

4. Decide if you want props. Mistletoe? A sign? Your loving pet? Make sure that if you are going to be using any sort of prop on the day of your photo that it is ready to go beforehand so you aren’t having to pull something together last minute.

5. Don’t send your cards too late. Most people will take down their holiday cards by new years. If you don’t get cards out to people until Christmas Eve they are only going to be displayed for a short time. We like to recommend sending your cards by the first week of December so family and friends have plenty of time to display your creation.

It’s In The Details – Escort Card Inspiration

By | Brides, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Planning, Wedding Reception Ideas | No Comments

Are you all about the details? if so, you have probably spent a lot of time thinking about the escort cards to help your guests find their place on your big day. With so many options out there it is easy to become overwhelmed. Ask yourself a few questions to help you decide for yourself what style will work for you.

1. What is your wedding theme? This will help you decide what overall style to look for in your escort cards. Are you more of a rustic bride? Think burlap, mason jars, or wood. More classic? Think lace, clean lines, and simplicity.

2. How much time and money do you want to go into your escort cards? Unless you want to make a huge statement we suggest sticking with a more traditional style. Want more of a bold escort card display? DIY options and more unique ideas are probably for you!

3. Do you want your escort cards to become a keepsake? Escort Card/Wedding Favor have become a big theme lately and we love it! This is a great idea for someone who doesn’t want to see their escort cards tossed away at the end of the night.

We have put together some of our favorite styles in escort cards below!

For anyone wanting their escort cards to be a memorable experience and one that your guests are talking about throughout the night. This is also great way to tie in food and beverages into your escort cards.
